Fundamental concepts in polymer chemistry, including synthesis, properties, applications and environmental perspectives of organic, organometallic and inorganic polymers will be covered.
Polymers can be natural or synthetic, organic or inorganic and are all around us; we are even made of polymers. The polymer industry accounts for around 50% of all chemists employed and is one of the fastest growing industrial sectors. The variety of physical and chemical behaviours of polymers is very wide, so in this course, emphasis is placed on grasping the fundamentals of polymer science such that this diversity can be properly comprehended, including synthesis, properties, applications and environmental perspectives of organic, organometallic and inorganic polymers.
